Hi Vivienne,

We met and chatted briefly by the shores of Derwent Water on the 10th October.
We discussed your current project and the lack of craft skills amoung students these days. I'm currently going through your work and have to say you massively undersold yourself. You really have managed to capture what I feel was the very ethereal nature of the place. Your work is very sensitive. I look forward to seeing more of your work in future. I shall definately be sharing your work with my colleagues.

Kind regards,

Lee.

Thank you Jeff! I am in love with yews too. I have had a hard time capturing the size and scale of the larger trees, I don't tend to put people in the photos and I'm not sure that the tiny sheep give any indication of the giant width of these charismatic ancients. I'll give it a go.

Hi Vivienne - I saw some of your photos on the KAXE website. Great workl! The dock images are surreal... but the forests [of course!] moved me the most. I love the 'equilibrium' photo of the large spreading [yew?] tree on the hillside. Wonderful.

Have you looked into the ancient yews of England/Wales? Spiritually significant, they're often found in cemeteries and most often predate the cemetery itself! They were a symbol of life/death, so the dead were buried near yews - some of the trees are supposed to be thousands of years old.

Well, Vivienne, I just wanted to let you know how much I liked your work. Have a good trip and photograph an ancient yew for me! See you soon.
